Self-Adhesive Labels
used for mailings or for sticking onto questionnaires for phoning. They can be printed with or without telephone numbers and with or without contact names. They come on A4 sized sheets or on sheets the size of computer listing paper.

Cheshire Prints or Cheshire Labels
Two terms for the same thing. This is label data printed onto either A4 paper or computer listing paper rather than labels. This type of printout is used for addressing mailings, for administrative purposes or for phoning work. When used for mailings, the printed sheets are run through a Cheshire labeling machine (hence the name) which cuts up the names and addresses and sticks them onto the envelopes/polylopes. For the machine to do this the labels have to spaced correctly and uniformly, otherwise the cutters chop labels in half.

Line Prints
These are A4 or computer listing prints that print the information in a line across the page. If there is a lot of data, print layouts can be changed to spread the information across two or more lines. Line prints are often used for deduplication work or for keeping hard copy data 'on file'

Magnetic media is a generic term for tapes, disks and CD's.

Disks  Most data can be supplied on 3.5" floppy disc or CD. The format required will depend on the software package to be used however the safest way to import data is to use a CSV file, this stands for comma separated variables, an example is below:

"Mr","Nobody","100 New Street","Old Town","BE15 QU1"

By using this format if the data you purchase has any commas within the field of data the quotes ensure that this field stays as one. Consult your manuals or IT department for advice.
