ACORN Profiling

ACORN is a geodemographic targeting classification system that enables us to select your ideal prospects.  It combines geography with demographics, places where people live with their underlying characteristics, to create an understanding of the different types of people in different areas across the country.  ACORN is built entirely from census data, as many as 79 different data items, carefully screened from over 9,000 items produced by the census authorities, are incorporated into the ACORN classification including significant factors like age, sex and marital status as well as occupation, education, home ownership etc.  ACORN classifies people living in Great Britain into any one of 5 categories with 17 groups and 56 types.  Characteristics within the census data form the 56 types, which are then used as a means of defining the people in any given area.  The types are amalgamated into 17 groups, which can be used in applications that do not require such a high level of discrimination, likewise the groups are then amalgamated in the 5 categories which provide a readily accessible entry point into the classifications.
